Lone Star Chapter: Service, Connection, and Community Impact

The Lone Star Chapter of AGCRA continues to embody the spirit of service, mentorship, and community connection. Under the leadership of Chapter President Katrina Ford, the team has been actively engaged in initiatives that strengthen both the HR professional community and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Supporting Educators
In partnership with the Warrant Officer Association – The Great Place Gold Chapter, the Lone Star Chapter donated 100 composition books, 100 packs of paper, and 40 small white boards to the Black Chamber of Commerce “Teachers Grab & Go” event. With more than 800 educators in attendance, this drive-thru event helped teachers stock their classrooms for the upcoming school year. Chapter members also volunteered on site to distribute supplies, underscoring their commitment to giving back to those who shape future generations.
Building Professional Connections
President Ford had the privilege of traveling to support the Alamo Chapter Human Resource Leader Professional Development & Mentorship Session. The visit was an opportunity to connect with chapter leadership and members while reaffirming the Lone Star Chapter’s readiness to support sister chapters whenever needed.
During this event, she also met National President SGM (Ret) Dr. Clark, National President CW5 (Ret) Mr. Betancourt, and the legendary Mr. Jerry Dillard (S1 Net), whose leadership and mentorship have inspired countless HR professionals. These interactions highlight the strong bonds and shared vision that unite AGCRA leaders across the nation.

Serving the Community
The Lone Star Chapter also came together with partners to serve 75 hot meals, along with t-shirts, socks, and hygiene bags, to residents of Friends in Crisis. Special thanks go to Lone Star members, Tru Ryderz Bike Club, the Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce, and community donors including Walmart, Inspired Designs, and G&E Transportation. CPT Morton and SGM (Ret) Anita McMahan were recognized for their hands-on support in preparing meals, reflecting the chapter’s spirit of compassion in action.

Celebrating Chapter Success
Finally, the chapter celebrated its top sellers from the Double Good fundraiser, presenting appreciation baskets to those who helped raise over $10,000 in popcorn sales. Special recognition went to Chief Daniel for providing beautiful engraved cups and CPT Morton for contributing gift cards to make the gifts even more meaningful.
The Lone Star Chapter continues to demonstrate what it means to lead with service—uplifting educators, strengthening professional bonds, supporting those in need, and celebrating success as a family.
