The AGCRA Red River Chapter at Fort Sill, OK, Celebrating the AG Corps’ 249th Birthday and AG Corps Week, June 10 – 13, 2024
Submitted by SPC Patience Awuah
Purpose - According to CPT Timothy Daley, in order to develop AG and HR professionals and leaders and cultivate fellowship amongst the Corps' members.
First Day of AG Week – June 10
MSG Jordan gave a general overview of AGCRA and how important it is for all AG Soldiers, DA Civilians, and AG Retirees and Veterans to participate. The organization helps networking and socializing with other AGs or personnel affiliated with the AG Corps. She also talked about member benefits, awards, recognitions, and scholarships AGCRA offers to encourage new Soldiers and their Family members to join through their website at AGCRA.com.
Second Day of AG Week – June 11
We kicked off early in the morning with sports PT at Prichard Field as we played kickball, and it was so much fun. “Developing relationships while having fun playing a sport,” quoted by CPT Daley.
Leadership Professional Development (LPD) sesson with LTC Michael Halter
On Day 2, we also had an LPD session with LTC Michael Halter, Commander of the 95thAdjutant General (Reception) Battalion. LTC Halter talked and explained what an “Integrated Data Pipeline” is and, more importantly, explained what data is to us Army HR professionals.
Third Day of AG Week – June 12
Two events happened on this day; we had our usual coffee social at the Buffalo Groove Coffee Company and later had an IPPS-A LPD with SGM Smith.
SGM Smith ran us through what to expect in IPPS-A. The Army is currently working on changes and new functions to make our work go more smoothly and efficiently.
Our coffee socials are not only for Fort Sill AG Corps members to enjoy coffee but also to meet other HR professionals from other post Brigades and Battalions.
Last Day of AG Week – June 13
On the last day, we joined MSG Jordan’s Spin Class at Fort Sill's Fires Gym to improve our physical fitness and learn some proper cycling techniques. It was so much fun, and all members participated well.
AG Cookout & Celebration
In the afternoon on the last day, we all had a cookout at LETRA to celebrate a successful AG week and the AG Corps’ 249th Birthday.
Some of our Chapter Council Members (SPC Patience Awuah, SGT Tran, SSG Richard Brisbon II, and SFC Alfreda Fitzgerald) were recognized and awarded the AGCRA COL Robert L. Manning Achievement Medal for their dedication and devotion to the Chapter.
