Sun City Celebrates a Mother-Daughter Legacy of Service

Two AGCRA Sun City Chapter members, Master Sgt. Michelle Vereen and her daughter, Sgt. Alexandria Vereen-Alaniz, shared a special milestone when they received the Col. Robert L. Manning Achievement Medal at Fort Bliss, Texas, on 29 September 2026.

Vereen serves as the senior career counselor for the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, while Vereen-Alaniz serves as the senior human resources sergeant for 1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment. Although they serve in different specialties, both help strengthen readiness through their support to Soldiers.

Presented by AGCRA, the Manning Medal recognizes significant contributions to the AG Corps, the Association, or the Army human resources profession. Vereen-Alaniz received her medal from Master Sgt. Brandy Jackson-Frazer, Sun City Chapter senior vice president, and Command Sgt. Maj. Jean John, her battalion command sergeant major. Her father, retired Sgt. 1st Class Vereen Drafus, attended the celebration.

Congratulations to these Sun City Chapter members on their recognition and shared commitment to serving Soldiers!
