AGCRA Mentorship Program

AGCRA Mentorship Program

WELCOME TO THE AGCRA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM!

INTRODUCTION.  Looking for an AG Corps Mentor?  The AGCRA Mentorship Program is a new initiative designed to connect AGs (Soldiers, DA Civilians, Army Musicians, including MEPS & Recruiting / Retention personnel) with experienced mentors who can provide invaluable guidance, support, and insights.

Whether you're an active member of the Adjutant General's (AG) Corps, Retired, a Veteran, or currently working in a military Human Resources (HR) or Army Band role, our program offers you a unique and privileged opportunity to benefit from the wealth of knowledge and experience of our Mentors.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW. Our Mentorship Program is tailored to foster professional growth, enhance leadership skills, and navigate career transitions. Mentors in our directory come from diverse backgrounds, ensuring you can find a mentor who understands your unique situation.  Our Mentors are also volunteers who bring current, in-the-field perspectives and up-to-date knowledge of Army HR / Band operations and protocols.

Retired / Veteran AGs - With many years of dedicated service, our Retired / Veteran Mentors offer seasoned advice and wisdom that only experience can provide.

DA Civilian HR Professionals - In addition to many DA Civilians who started their careers in civil service, there are also many AG Mentors who have retired or separated from the Army and are now (or were) thriving as DA HR Civilians. These AG cohorts can offer significant insights into civilian career paths and opportunities.

Army Band Leaders - As you may know, the Army Band Community is an important cohort within the AG Corps.  Our Army Band Mentors bring a diverse experience of Band assignments from Music Performance Teams (MPTs), ARNG band assignments, to Band Leaders of the Army's largest bands.

MENTOR / MENTEE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT FOLLOW FOR THE AGCRA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM:

  • As AGCRA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and considered by the Army to be a private organization, AGCRA mentors and mentees must understand that we are not an "official" entity that can act on behalf of the AG Corps or Army.
  • The AGCRA Mentorship Program intends to connect the younger cohorts of the AG Corps, including DA HR Civilians, Accessions / Recruiting / Retention personnel, and Army Musicians, with currently serving, Retired, or Veteran senior AGs who will establish a mentoring relationship that benefits the career goals and aspirations of AG mentees.
  • AG mentees now have the opportunity to search mentor applications and select one or more mentors to connect with.
  • All AG mentees will email mentors they wish to connect with, and they will identify themselves as an AGCRA mentee.

IMPORTANT:

  • The AG mentee drives the relationship based on what they want to achieve through our program's mentoring efforts.
  • AGCRA requires no mentoring documentation, and we will not upload nor store any documentation.
  • Any mentoring documentation that may be established, including a review of official Army records and efficiency reports, is solely at the discretion of the AG mentee.
  • Mentees can select multiple mentors based on their search criteria, and they may initiate or end a mentoring relationship as they choose to do so.

ADMIN:

  • While mentoring, mentors must refrain from using their .mil email account since they are part of AGCRA's program as a nonprofit organization.
  • This will prevent issues for our mentors with the Joint Ethics Regulation and AR 25-2.
  • Mentors have the option of using their home email address, or they can create a separate AGCRA mentoring email through Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.
  • Email any questions or feedback you may have regarding the AGCRA Mentorship Program to Mentorship@agcra.com.
