Meet the New Mentorship Initiative Lead, MSG Michael Wilder

Developing others has been a recurring part of MSG Michael A. Wilder II’s career—in Army classrooms, across operational assignments, and on youth sports fields. Now, he brings that experience to his role as the AGCRA Mentorship Initiative Lead.

A native of New Bern, North Carolina, Wilder enlisted in the Army in 2010 as a Human Resources Specialist. His career has taken him from postal operations during a combat deployment to Iraq to human resources leadership positions supporting units in Kuwait, Hawaii, and across the continental United States. Along the way, he has served as a recruiter, instructor, and combat advisor, gaining experience working with people at different stages of their military careers.

One assignment placed leader development at the center of his daily work. As a Small Group Leader for the 42A Senior Leaders Course at Fort Jackson, Wilder taught more than 100 noncommissioned officers across nine course cycles. That experience provides a strong foundation for helping AGCRA connect professionals who have lessons to share with those seeking guidance.

Wilder currently serves in the J6 Military Secretariat supporting the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon. He is also pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Sports Management at Columbia Southern University.

His commitment to development extends beyond the uniform. With more than five years of youth coaching experience, Wilder currently coaches through Army Child and Youth Services at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. A proud father of three, he brings experience supporting growth both within his family and throughout his community.

As Mentorship Initiative Lead, Wilder will guide the development and execution of AGCRA’s effort to connect experienced professionals with Soldiers, leaders, and future members of the Adjutant General’s Corps. The initiative will create opportunities to share knowledge, build professional relationships, and help prepare the next generation to lead.
