Forging the Future - 1ID Senior Warrant Officers Lead with Purpose Through Technical Talks and Mentorship

In the heart of the 1st Infantry Division (1ID), a deliberate and consistent initiative is underway — led by the Division’s Senior Warrant Officer and a team of Brigade-level Human Resources (HR) technicians — to enhance technical readiness, develop rising talent, and ensure HR systems excellence across the formation. The initiative, known as 1ID Thursday Tech Talks, has become a cornerstone for HR synchronization, mentorship, and strategic integration of emerging Army HR technologies.

Each Thursday, the Division Senior Warrant Officer leads a focused session with Warrant Officers and HR Techs across the command to address current readiness concerns, upcoming talent alignment cycles, and critical system access challenges. These sessions serve as more than just administrative updates — they are intentional opportunities to build technical competence, reinforce accountability, and mentor the next generation of HR leaders.

Thursday Tech Talks emphasized several key priorities:

  • ATAP 26-01 Officer Market: As the officer market window opened (1 April – 15 May), HR Techs ensured all affected officers had access to IPPS-A and AIM2, reinforcing readiness for talent alignment. The discussion focused on data accuracy and officer visibility — mentored and monitored by the WO cohort.
  • DAMPS & MARRS Access: To support operations and travel authorizations, each Brigade is tasked to validate four primary/alternate users for DAMPS. Simultaneously, MARRS access was coordinated through III Armored Corps, with Warrant Officers advising units on the application process and proper utilization.
  • D-Position Training & Engagement: Preparing for the 8 May D-Position training and 21 May HRC touchpoint, WOs led the planning and prepared Brigade-level representatives to engage with HRC on officer distribution and assignments. This demonstrates the direct mentorship WOs provide on how to engage with enterprise-level systems and key HR stakeholders.
  • ARSTRUC Personnel Laydown (DAGGER BRIGADE): Reviewing the support to MICO units, HR Techs analyzed personnel laydowns aligned with ARSTRUC guidance, ensuring correct authorizations and strength reporting — a vital readiness function coached directly by senior WOs.
  • DD93/SGLV Enforcement: Echoing Commanding General priorities, WOs drove immediate compliance for Soldier record updates, ensuring leaders enforced accountability and reduced risk in casualty reporting.

What sets 1ID apart is the mentorship-first approach taken by the Senior Warrant Officer cohort. Whether it’s providing one-on-one coaching during tech sessions or walking junior HR Techs through system workflows, 1ID Warrant Officers embrace the dual responsibility of technical mastery and leadership development. These engagements often extend beyond the Thursday sessions, forming the backbone of a culture of continuous improvement within the Division’s HR enterprise.

The outcome is a technically proficient, highly adaptable HR force — one that understands the value of mentorship, the necessity of readiness, and the power of collaboration.

As we look toward the AG Corps' 250th Anniversary and a future driven by innovation, the 1ID Senior Warrant Officer team stands as a model for excellence — where mentorship and mission success go hand in hand.
